The Föhrenberge Nature Park is a biodiverse natural and cultural landscape – a valuable habitat for plants, animals and people alike. We all have a responsibility to ensure that this natural gem remains a place of recreation and diversity for generations to come.
When hiking or walking in the Föhrenberge Nature Park, you’ll find an extensive, well-marked network of paths. To help preserve our species-rich natural and cultural landscape – with its sensitive habitats, unique plants and diverse wildlife – please stay on the marked paths. Please bear in mind that vineyards, meadows and pastures are agricultural production areas and may only be accessed via the paths. The requirement to stay on the paths also applies in nature reserves.
Mountain biking and cycling are very welcome in the Föhrenberge Nature Park on the designated trails.
To protect other visitors seeking relaxation and our species-rich habitats, we ask that you stay on these marked routes. Cycling off-road across unpaved areas damages vegetation and the ground, harms valuable habitats for plants and animals, and causes stress to wildlife. Please observe seasonal and night-time cycling restrictions.
Please keep dogs on a lead. This helps to protect wildlife and grazing animals, and ensures that all visitors can enjoy a peaceful time together.
Please take your rubbish home with you or dispose of it in the bins provided. Rubbish poses a risk to animals and people and spoils the experience of nature.
Dog poo poses a health risk to grazing animals, acts as unwanted fertiliser in many habitats, and who wants to step in a ‘surprise’? Dispose of it in a bag in the nearest bin.
Cigarette ends contain large amounts of toxins and, if carelessly discarded, can quickly cause forest fires. Use a pocket ashtray or dispose of the filters – once they’ve been thoroughly extinguished – in the nearest bin.
Observe animals from a distance – particularly whilst they are feeding, during the mating season and when young animals are out and about. Behaving calmly protects wildlife and allows you to experience special moments in nature.
