Along the hiking trails, several huts and inns invite you to stop for a bite to eat. These include, for example, the Franz Ferdinand hut, the Höllensteinhaus, the Kammersteinerhütte, the Salzstangerlwirt on the Kugelwiese, the Teufelsteinhütte, the Waldrast Krauste Linde and the Wiener Hütte. Visitors will also find wine taverns, restaurants and other regional dining options in the nature park’s local communities. 

Accommodation is mainly available in the villages around the nature park – ranging from family-run hotels to bed-and-breakfasts. These make ideal starting points for hikes, cycle rides and excursions into the southern Vienna Woods.

The Föhrenberge Nature Park is not a fenced-off area with a central entrance or standard opening hours. The landscape and its walking trails are generally freely accessible all year round. However, individual excursion destinations, huts, restaurants and accommodation providers have their own opening hours. 

Forestry work, storm damage, the risk of forest fires or other safety reasons may also necessitate temporary trail closures and restrictions. Please therefore pay attention to the latest information and on-site signage.

Every season reveals a different side to the nature park: from the first blossoms and warm walking days in spring, through shady woodland paths in summer, to colourful pine and deciduous forests in autumn. Walks and hikes are also possible in winter, provided the trail conditions, weather and your personal equipment are suitable.

There are no campsites or designated motorhome pitches in the Föhrenberge Nature Park. Wild camping and spending the night in a motorhome are not permitted in the nature park.

For a restful night’s sleep, there are accommodation options as well as official campsites and motorhome pitches available in the surrounding region. From there, you can set off the next day, fully rested, on your journey of discovery through the nature park.

The Föhrenberge Nature Park lies just south of Vienna and is easily accessible by public transport via the Südbahn railway line and several regional bus routes. Many walks can start at railway stations or bus stops and end at a different location. This means you can also plan multi-stage walks without having to return to your car.
