Cycling tour Starting from Biedermannsdorf - EuroVelo 9 junction
The Mödingbach cycle route leads along the - mostly - romantic watercourse from Biedermannsdorf (junction from EURO-Velo 9) upstream along the municipalities of Wr. Neudorf, the district capital of Mödling and the municipality of Hinterbrühl.
The route passes a number of historical and cultural sights, such as the EUMIG Museum in Wr. Neudorf, the City Transport Museum in Mödling (carriage house of the first electric streetcar in Central Europe), the Museum of the City of Mödling ("Thonetschlössl"), the Folklore Museum Mödling Folklore Museum (historic wine maker's house), the Beethoven Memorial (Beethoven's summer apartment in the "Hafnerhaus" from the Renaissance period), the late Gothic hospital church and numerous historic houses in the pedestrian zone.
The end point of the Mödlingbach cycle route is the historically and culturally significant "Höldrichsmühle", a meeting place for important painters and composers during the Biedermeier period.
The route is entirely flat and paved along its entire length; more than half of it runs on bike paths separated from the road, and the rest follows quiet side streets in the towns. There is continuous signage.
The selection of dining options is diverse and plentiful. And at the Mödling train station, you can transfer to a train bound for Vienna (or Wiener Neustadt).
